Three days ago I started feeling unwell. I suspected a sinus infection and that I should probably seek a doctor for prescription antibiotics. I was able to piece together that I could use an app called Oh Doctor, that would connect me virtually with an English speaking doctor in Japan. The doctor agreed, after a consultation, that I have a sinus infection. He was able to call in a prescription to a pharmacy nearby. The first day on the meds, I was like “this isn’t so bad!” It also happened to be our Mt. Fuji day tour. I was so thankful to be well enough to enjoy it. We saw two different lakes. One of which we took a cable car up to the summit. It was gorgeous but strong winds forced us back down after only 10 minutes. Totally worth the view though! We also saw some beautiful shrines. One of which we climbed over 300 stairs to see.
The “this isn’t so bad” attitude quickly faded as the decongestants started kicking in. I was a literal snot monster. everything that was stopped up in my sinuses started draining out. It was intense. I was having trouble breathing. which was alarming to me. I suspect the ingredients in the decongestants here don’t thin the mucus at all, causing me to choke every time I’d cough or blow my nose. I haven’t been this sick in a long time. I missed Sanrio Puroland yesterday. I also sat out the Kirby Cafe and Taito City today. While it really sucks I missed out on 2+ days of activities, I’m glad to report I can finally breathe much more easily now. I think I’m finally all drained out. No more snot left.
Just in time for us to leave tomorrow via the bullet train for Osaka. We will be there for a few days, then are heading back up here to Tokyo.
